Racine is testing energy efficient street lights
- They are using $795,000 Federal grant money to do it
- they replaced 1,000 of its 3,600 sodium lights
- It produces white light that has less of a glare
- 600 lights have been replaced so far
- 40% reduction in energy
- old lights lasted 3-5 years
- Expect Led’s to last up to 20 years
